Clearance Christmas polish

I picked up a few deals at Sally's, their Christmas polishes were 50% off! They still had quite a few left but nothing really that exciting.
I picked up 2 from the FingerPaints collection:

Merry mistletoe is a light green shimmer, it's quite sheer and I used 4 coats for the picture, I do like it though since its not the typical dark green that most brands put out.

Elves bells is an opaque gold glitter with some holo glitter mixed in. I already have quite a few gold glitter polishes but I couldn't resist this one since it made me think of the AC/DC song hells bells!

Lastly I picked up Angel Eyes from Orly, it's a beautiful bright blue glitter with a sprinkling of holo that flashes turquoise, pink, gold and even green. This may build up to full coverage but after 3 coats it was still patchy in spots and really thick looking in other spots so I took it all off and then layered 2 thin coats of it over Orlys Sweet Peacock which seemed like a perfect match to the blue in angel eyes.

Day 11 - Santa!

Today's challenge is Santa. My four year old was in love with this one, and I quite like it too. Glad I got it done a day early so I can wear it for the weekend!

The base red is CG Adventure Red-y and the Santa nail was a base of FingerPaints Gossamer White. All details were done with a dotting tool except for the belt buckle which was a silver striper, so these were pretty quick and easy!

Only one more day left which is the Night Before Christmas challenge and so far I have no clue what I am going to do for that one. I have the book here so hopefully I will find some inspiration in there!

Ipsy December 2012

Holy crap! I am so glad that Ipsy ships to Canada now! I have only gotten 2 bags so far but they have both been awesome! Definitely my new favorite subscription!
This months bag was a dark silver one with a pink lining with the ipsy logo printed all over it. The bag really isn't my style but it was filled with great products!
Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencil - this is my first urban decay product and after trying it I know it won't be my last!
Mai Couture highlighter paper - I am looking forward to trying these and it's a huge sample with 25 sheets in it! I received blush papers in a glymm bag once and we only got 2 sheets!
Mirabella prime for face and eyes - full size product and it feels so amazing on my skin. I think I will be repurchasing this as long as it doesn't cause me to break out!
NYX loose pearl shadow - I got the color walnut pearl which is a dark brown/gold. Wouldn't be my first choice of color but I will make it work! Personally I don't prefer loose shadows, I like the way they look ice they are on and the texture if them but they are so messy!
Be a bombshell lipgloss - the color is hot mess (love the name!) it looks like a pretty bright red so I was a bit skeptical but it goes on pretty sheer only leaving a light red tint.
I can't get over the value that we are getting for what we are paying but I sure hope ipsy keeps it up!

Topbox December 2012

My topbox arrived today and I thought it was a pretty decent box, nothing to get too excited about but there's a few good products in there!
Chloe perfume - at first I didn't like the scent but after wearing it for a few hours I really like it, I think it was just too strong at first and I only put a very small dab on one wrist so I think it's going to last awhile. Cute little bottle too!
Ferro cosmetics - mineral blush in the color bashful. Very pretty pink color but I find mineral make up so messy, it gets everywhere!
Goldwell sleek perfection thermal spray - I do straighten my hair frequently so this will definitely get used and it smells good!
Kellet moisturizing gel - these I will try but I hate the packaging, there is probably enough product in there for more then one use but there is no way to reseal it.

Day 10 - Gifts!

I kinda fell out of the challenge for a little while and missed the last 3 designs :( between getting ready for Christmas and taking care of my hubby and running him to all his appts there just hasn't been much extra time. Of course I have still been painting my nails but just doing quick manis!

I'm hopefully back on track now and will be able to get all the remaining designs in on time! These "gifts" were created using Orly Miss Conduct and the accent nail is done with CG Glittering Garland, the bows were painted on with silver and white stripers and then I used stick on jewels for the centers. The jewels didn't last very long, they all were missing by the end of the day!

Glymm December 2012

Today's mail was my December glymm bag and after receiving a pretty good loose button box this week, my glymm was a bit disappointing.
The bag itself is pretty nice, I really like the textured bags. Inside the bag was:

LashEm eyelash & brow serum
LashEm false lashes
Suncoat peel able nail polish
Glamorous lipstick

There was also a couple of inserts, every bag included a gift card that can be used at glymm's online shop and also a $20 off code that can be used on a panty by post subscription.

The lashem products aren't something I would buy for myself but I may try out the lashes on New Years just for fun. The lipstick is a nice neutral pink and I like the idea of peel able nail polish but I'm not crazy about the color I received. I remember having tinker bell peel able polish when I was a little girl (maybe that's where the polish obsession started!)

I'm getting quite a few subscription boxes right now and I think I might let this one go, I have never been wowed by it any month and the samples are usually very tiny but it's so hard to get rid of one, I always feel like the minute I cancel the next bag will be awesome!

Loose Button Winter 2012

Christmas is coming early for me, I received my loose button box yesterday, julep boxes last week and ipsy, glymm and topbox should be here by the end of the week. If I had any willpower I would put them right under the tree and wait until Christmas morning to open them but I seriously have a hard time waiting until I get back in the house with the mail!

So I thought this was a pretty good box, 2 of the items I was able to choose myself with their first in line program. I had picked the CK Euphoria perfume which came in adorable packaging and is a great size (15ml) I love getting perfume samples, perfume is pretty expensive so it sucks when you spend around $80 on a bottle only to find out you don't like it as much as you thought. The other product I chose was the OSIS+ mattifying powder. I haven't tried it but have heard it works great for getting volume in the roots of your hair.
I'm looking forward to trying all of the products in the box. I LOVE the polish, at first I though it was just another pretty pink but the finish is gorgeous! It's semi matte and has a kind of satiny look to it. The color is called Beauty Within and is from the breast cancer awareness collection.

This subscription costs just under $30 but I definitely feel I got more than my money's worth!

Day 6 - Christmas trees

This was a super simple mani to do and I can't stop staring at it. It actually looks like it has twinkling lights in it!

For the base color I used OPI Did you 'ear about Van Gogh? And then used a small paint brush to make the triangles for the tree shapes with CG Holly-day, and then topped the green with a layer of Orlys Monster Mash. This polish is from their recent Halloween collection but it couldn't be more perfect for Christmas trees! Finally I used a dotting tool and a random yellow polish for the star on top!

I am so happy I got this done early so I can leave it on for a day or two!

Day 5 - Reindeer

This is my favorite challenge day so far, these reindeer are seriously adorable!

The polish used on my index and pinkie is 2 coats of Orly's Buried Alive. This is my first time wearing it since I couldn't seem to find a time when I wanted to wear a brown polish but I love all the golden shimmer in it!

The polishes used for the reindeer is just a random assortment, and I had to mix a white and brown to get a decent color for the reindeer heads.

Be sure to check out everyone else's reindeer too!

Day 4 - bells

Bells? Hmmm... Sounds simple enough. It's NOT! I had no idea it would be so hard to freehand a bell, I tried drawing it on paper a few times first and its not that its particularly hard to draw one, it just doesn't translate to a nail well and not have it look like just a blob of polish. I decided that I would just do one on one nail and I think it turned out okay, it at least resembles a bell but it doesn't seem very Christmasy to me!

For the base color I used 2 coats of Orly's Mind's Eye and the silver is CG Platinum Silver. I outlined the bell with a black striper.

Day 3 - snowflakes!

Here is my very late snowflakes! My husband broke his leg a few days ago so I have spent most of the last few days visiting him in the hospital. I did try to get these done earlier, I had such a great idea for them and put a glue base coat on my nails so I could use a really glittery polish then thought I would stamp on them later that evening but 2 of them had popped right off before I got back home to do it!
Then the next day I decided to use a pink creme for the background and it went on so thick it looked horrible so I had to take it right off. Finally I decided to give it one more try and it's far from perfect and far from what I had originally wanted but here it is.

This is 3 coats of Orly Winter Wonderland over 1 thin coat of a white polish. Stamping was done using a black Konad polish. Now I am going to take this right off and get started on day 4!

Holiday Challenge - Day 2

Today's design is Candy canes! My favorite kind of candy canes are the blueberry ones that have the nasty side effect of turning your teeth and tongue blue after having one! I decided to do a more traditional one though using white, red and green.

For this design I used one layer of CG Ring in the Red over one layer of CG Adventure Red-y then free handed the white and green stripes with striping polish. I really need to get some striping tape ordered soon!

Day 3 is snowflakes and I have had my design in mind for quite awhile so I'm looking forward to that one!
