Glossybox November 2012

I picked up my mail yesterday and was so excited that my Glossybox arrived a day earlier then expected and it was HEAVY! I wanted to tear into it immediately but managed to wait until I got home!

This was the first month with the new pricing at $21 a month so I had high hopes for it. The packaging this month was adorable with Christmas tissue paper and a red ribbon. Also I am assuming some of the price increase went into their new Glossy mag. Honestly I would rather pay a bit less and skip that but I am sure there are others who will enjoy it!

As far as the contents of the box I thought it was pretty good. A nice mix of products: body wash, lip gloss, hair products, blush, hand cream and my favorite thing to receive.... Nail polish! This time it was a Nicole by OPI in the color Here we Kome A-Karoling which is a nice deep purple with a subtle shimmer but for whatever reason I just don't care for their bottle shapes. Also I get that it's from the Kardashian collection and they obviously like the letter K but its getting a bit ridiculous! It was a pretty color and great formula but I have already passed it on to my daughter, and passed the hand cream onto my hubby. It made them pretty happy! The other item was a card to use on the Uber website that's good for 50% off, I quickly looked at their website and it seems to be skin and hair care as well as tanning products. Not sure if I will purchase anything but I do plan to look at it again and try to find some reviews of their products since 50% off is a darn good deal!

I am including all the pictures at the end of this post, I only have my phone for blogging and it is seems beyond my computer/phone skills to get the photos in the right order and downright impossible to get any text between the pictures. I have a lot to learn....

Overall I would give this months box a rating of 8.5 and look forward to next months Glossybox!

Snowflakes!

For today's NOTD I used China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint and China Glaze Platinum Silver for the accent nail. I only have about 5 stamping plates so I was so happy to find a snowflake on one of them when I was looking through them last night! Pretty much all the other ones are flowers that look the same. I really need to order some new ones soon! The snowflakes are stamped using a Konad white polish. We have had a few flurries over the last few weeks here but nothing that stays on the ground, I am ready for some snow!

Topbox November 2012

This is only my 2nd topbox I have received after being on the wait list for months. I think it's a pretty good one too, some of the items received are doubles for me but I don't really mind that since they make great little gifts for my oldest daughter. Both my daughters love being there when the beauty boxes get opened and smelling and trying all the products!

Total value of the box - approx $34.74
Total paid for the box - $11.30

Benefit They're Real mascara. I have been wanting to try this mascara forever, I have heard such great things about Benefit everything so I was so happy to get this!

China Glaze polish from the On Safari collection in the color Jungle Queen. This is a dusty purple/gray color. I already own this color and never tried it but I am happy to get it again since I decided to swatch it and now I really like it and my daughter is more than happy to get my duplicate!

Pari Beauty lip paint - whoa! This is one bright lip gloss and its extremely pigmented. This color probably looks great on some people but it is not for me!

All of the products come in a reusable cylinder shaped container, I haven't decided what I am going to do with them yet but they are too cute to throw away!

I received this exact sample in the fall Loose Button box and think it is such a nice light scent, I am so happy to have a back up, great size for a sample (glymm could learn a thing or two) The only thing that could make it better is if it had a spray top so I wouldn't be so nervous that I am going to spill it every time I open it.

Quick swatch of the Jungle Queen polish, this is 3 coats. Really streaky after the first coat but looks great with a few more thin coats.

Overall my rating for this box is 8.5/10!

Glymm November 2012

Glymm is one of the six beauty boxes that I subscribe to. I have been with glymm since July and have never been wowed by any of the bags but for just under $14 a month I still feel like I am getting my monies worth.

My favorite thing this month was actually the bag itself which is a good thing since the value of all the other products was quite low. Normally I don't count the bag as part of the value since I would rather receive another product instead of the makeup bag but glymm does put a value on the bag since they sell them for $12 in their online store.

Total value of this months bag - approx $12.94 plus another $12 for the bag
Total paid for the box - approx $14

Lys Parisien hydrating shampoo (60ml) and moisturizing balm (60ml) - approx value of $2.88 each. These seem like they will be nice, they smell great but I have so many other shampoos and conditioners to get through it will likely be awhile before they get used.

The actual bag is a black textured print maybe crocodile or snake look to it. Don't know my dead animal/reptiles very well I guess but I do know I like it!

I always love to receive nail polishes in the beauty box. This isn't one I would pick myself. I don't like to wear red much since they seem to stain around my cuticles when I try to remove it. This is a nice red though and a cross between a jelly and cream finish. I can't find a name color on the bottle anywhere or online. This is also a very teeny bottle at only 4ml and is worth approx $5 (I used 3 coats)

I love scrubs and this one smells sooo good. A few months ago I received dirts salt scrub and it was really nice so I was happy to get this. Approx value - 1.88

;

This ridiculously tiny perfume sample is by The Beehive and in the scent 'Alice Blue' it smells nice but not even a full ml?? I actually really like to get perfume samples but this is barely a step up from the ones that used to come in magazines.

Overall I would rate this months bag a 6.5/10, I am looking forward to next months though since everyone will receive a gift card worth at least $10 to use in their online shop and they do have some nice stuff in there!

China Glaze Champagne Kisses

Until recently glitter polish and I have had a love/hate relationship. I loved the way it looked but hated the removal process so I usually just avoided it altogether or would use it only on a accent nail. About a month ago I found out that you could use glue (I use Elmer's clear) for your base coat and then you can just peel the polish right off! Thank you so much to whoever came up with this genius idea!

Now I am making up for lost time and I can't get enough of glitter polish! This polish is Champagne Kisses and comes from China Glazes Holiday Joy 2012 collection. When I bought this I thought I was getting a pretty rose gold glitter polish but when I put it on I realized it also has some holo glitter scattered throughout. I absolutely love this polish and will be wearing it lots this holiday season!

Orly's Rococo A Go-Go

While shopping at Winners this week, several nail polishes caught my eye but I managed to only buy 2. Both of my daughters birthdays are this month and then Christmas next month so I guess I better start cutting back on the polish!

The two that I bought are both Orlys and I didn't know what collection they were from until I got home and looked them up. They are both from the Mineral fx collection from fall 2011 and I think I stumbled across the best 2 from the collection! The one I am showing today is Rococo A-Go-Go. I almost didn't buy it just because the name annoys me (weird I know) but I am so glad I did and the best part is they were only $5.99 each!

Mostly Polish

Welcome to my blog!

I am sure you have figured it out from the title but this blog will be mostly about polish (NOTDs and swatches) and I will also be posting about the different beauty subscription boxes that I receive.

I got really into polish about a year ago when I first heard about magnetic polishes, I just thought that was the coolest thing ever! So I looked it up online and found out they were available at my local Sally beauty supply (I had never been there) so I went that day to pick up a bottle and it just exploded from there! I have come a long way since then in both my collection and how I paint my nails. I was so proud when I got that first bottle of China Glaze magnetix, I painted my nails and promptly posted a photo to show off on Facebook. When I look at it now I am slightly mortified, I think there might have been more polish on my fingers than there was on my nails!

I am going to finish up this post with a picture of my current favorite polish. This is the gorgeous Orlys Miss conduct. It is a bright fuchsia with holo glitter, so much sparkle that I don't think any picture can do it justice! It is from their 2012 Naughty or Nice collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading this, I hope to have another post up tomorrow!
